Chandigarh:

A 27-year-old woman was allegedly killed in Punjab’s Mohali district by her male friend who fled in a car and was seriously injured in a road accident in neighboring Haryana state, police said on Monday.

Ekta, who worked in a private company, was found dead at her home in Kalar area of ​​the district with multiple injuries on her neck caused by sharp weapons, they said.

Police said the incident took place early on Saturday at Sunny Enclave in Kharar.

According to preliminary investigation, the accused Anas Qureshi (30 years old) entered Ekta’s home soon after she returned home.

CCTV footage from the area showed Qureshi emerging from the victim’s home and fleeing in her car.

However, after traveling about 70 kilometers, he met with an accident near Shahabad in Haryana and was seriously injured, police said.

Qureshi is undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College and Hospital in Chandigarh and will be arrested after discharge, they added.

Police said a motive for the murder has not yet been determined. The accused hails from Uttar Pradesh and runs a restaurant in Chandigarh.
