New Delhi:
Sadanand Vasant Dutt, captain of the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad, has been appointed as director of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), according to a Personnel Ministry order.
Dutt is a 1990-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) Maharashtra cadre officer.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Det as Director General (DG) of NIA for a period till December 31, 2026, the March 26 order said.
He will succeed Dinkar Gupta, who will retire on March 31.
ACC has also appointed Rajeev Kumar Sharma, a 1990-batch IPS officer of Rajasthan cadre, as director of the Directorate of Police Research and Development. His tenure will end on June 30, 2026 and he will receive pension, the order said.
Sharma will succeed Balaji Srivastava, who will complete his term at the end of March.
Piyush Anand will be the new captain of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
Anand is a 1991-batch IPS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre and is currently the Special Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
He has been appointed as the Director General of the National Development Research Foundation for a period of two years, the order said.
Anand will succeed Atul Kawar, who retires on March 31.
ACC has also appointed 1995-batch Kerala cadre IPS officer S Suresh as Additional Director General of Special Protection Group (SPG).
