'We only know Kamal, not Kamal Nath': Madhya Pradesh chief minister interviewed by New Delhi TV

Bhopal:

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav remains noncommittal on reports of Congress veteran Kamal Nath and his son Nakul Nath joining the party . When asked about the matter in an exclusive interview, he told New Delhi TV, “I only considered Kamal (Loyus, the symbol of the BJP) but not Kamal Nath. We have people in the party Many Kamal, by the grace of God, we are able to bloom in the soil.”

Asked what they would do if they wanted to join the party, he evaded saying he only cared about the present.

Earlier this year, news of Kamal Nath and his son joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) created a lot of buzz. Both denied it and Nakuul Nath was later appointed as the Congress candidate from Chhindwara. He will face off against the BJP’s Vivek Sahu.

Nath, the former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, was ousted from the party’s top job amid reports that the BJP failed to win the assembly elections amid reports that it was hit by a large number of anti-incumbent elements.

Ahead of the elections, some of Mr. Nath’s aides have joined the BJP, including former minister and four-time MP Chhindwara Dipak Saxena, Chhindwara mayor Vikram Ahake, Amarwara MLA Kamlesh Pratap Shah.

Yadav, who took over the state after the BJP’s resounding victory in last year’s assembly elections, said the Congress party had weakened the morale of the people.

Referring to the trend of Congress leaders and workers switching to the BJP ahead of the elections, he said the Congress party “has demoralized many people. The BJP is true to its word”.

As examples, he cited the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir, the abolition of triple talaq and the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya – all long-standing commitments of the BJP.

“People come to the BJP because they are inspired by our work,” he said. He added that the Congress was a dynastic party whose leadership was “useless” but now the country “sees them in a different way”.
