Madhya Pradesh builds 200 kilometers of green corridor to transport kidneys of brain-dead men

An approximately 200-km-long green corridor has been set up between Bhopal and Indore in Madhya Pradesh to transport kidneys harvested from a brain-dead man, officials said today.

Police were roped in to create green corridors to clear traffic for ambulances carrying organs.

Dr Rakesh Bhargava, a member of the National Level Organ Donation Authorization Committee, told PTI in an interview that Harishankar Dhimole (56), a teacher at a government primary school in Sagar district, was admitted to the hospital due to cerebral haemorrhage. Went to Bansal Hospital in Bhopal on April 12.

“Dimolai was declared brain dead during treatment and his kidneys were removed on Monday after his family agreed to donate his organs,” he said.

Dr. Bhargava said one of the kidneys was transplanted to a needy patient at Bansal Hospital and the other kidney was transported to a patient at Joyram Hospital in Indore through the green corridor.

Dr Amit Bhatt, deputy director (health services), Choithram Hospital, said: “Thanks to the green corridor, it took just two hours and 45 minutes to transport the kidney from Bhopal to Indore; It takes three and a half hours. “It takes four hours to cover this distance. “

Mr Dimoller’s son Himanshu said: “My father’s organ donation gave two patients a new life. This is a matter of pride for our family. This feeling cannot be expressed in words.”
