A 36-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul district for allegedly killing the 6-year-old son of his live-in partner who left him over doubts about his character, police said.
The accused allegedly slit the boy’s throat with a broken beer bottle in a drunken state in Ganj area, an official said.
“As per preliminary investigation, the victim boy was last seen with the accused Ganesh Meena in the morning,” a police release said.
Mina and the boy’s mother were in a live-in relationship, but recently, he began to doubt her fidelity.
“He suspected that the woman was having an affair with another man. Due to frequent quarrels, she began to live apart in the town of Sarni, leaving her son with the defendant in Bettur,” police said.
On Tuesday morning, a drunken Mina arrived at the second-grader’s school and took him to an abandoned building, where he allegedly attacked him with a beer bottle.
Police found the boy’s body at the scene and are investigating further, the news release said.
