The M4 eastbound near Heathrow Airport in west London has been closed as police investigate an “incident” on the motorway.

The National Highways Agency has told motorists to expect delays of 20 minutes and congestion for three miles following the incident at junction 3.

“The road within J3 is closed for @metpoliceuk investigation work following a recent incident,” it wrote on the X.

The motorway, the main commuter route into the capital, was closed shortly after 6am on Monday to allow the Metropolitan Police to carry out work.

As of 8:15 a.m., the incident had been cleared and all lanes on the highway were reopened.
