Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Litton Das played a shocking no-show in the third and final match of the T20I at Sylhet on Saturday. The incident occurred in Sri Lanka’s final ball when Dasan Shanaka and Sadila Samarawickrama were trying to steal a few runs for the visitors. Shanaka flicked Mustafizur Rahman’s pass into the middle hoping to grab a few points. When the two managed to complete their first run, Shanaka ran towards the goalkeeper’s end to complete his second run.

Rishad Hossain had a shot at the forward end but his shot was a little wayward. However, Litton surprised everyone by showing great awareness on the ball and then causing a no-look run.

His effort reminded fans of former India skipper MS Dhoni, who had a knack for running without looking in throughout his career.

Nuwan Suchhara took a hat-trick to end the match at 5-20 and Kusal Mendis hit a career-best 86 to help Sri Lanka in the series decider Bangladesh team.

Despite being top-scored by Rishad Hussain and Taskin Ahmed with 53 and 31 runs respectively, Bangladesh crashed out for 146 in the final at Sylhet.

Mendis’ 55-ball knock with six fours and as many as six sixes sealed victory for Sri Lanka, who were reduced to 174 after being bowled by the tourists in the third and final match. The victory was achieved by a score of -7.

Tushara bowled skipper Najmul Hussain (one) and Tohid Hridoy (nil) in the second and third overs of the first over of the series and got through by trapping bodies Heavyweight Mahmudullah Riyad completed his hat-trick.

“I’m really happy, it’s my first hat-trick,” he said later. “I’m happy to be able to help the team in games like this.”

“Credit to the way Nuwan Suchhara bowled, I thought he bowled very well,” Bangladesh captain Najmul said.

Sri Lanka won the first match by three wickets and Bangladesh won by eight wickets two days later.

The tour will play the first of three one-day internationals in Chittagong on March 15.
