Thrissur:

In a shocking incident in central Kerala district on Tuesday, a Traveling Ticket Examiner (TTE) met a tragic fate when he was allegedly pushed off a moving train by a ticketless passenger.

The incident took place on Tuesday night in Veerampaya area under the jurisdiction of Thrissur Medical College police station, police said.

The victim was identified as K Vinod, a resident of Ernakulam.

According to police, while discharging his duties, Vinod was allegedly pushed by the passenger concerned and fell from the moving train.

The incident took place on a Patna-bound train from Ernakulam.

Police responded quickly to the incident and the accused passenger was arrested in Palakkad.

Railway officials said the passenger, alleged to be a migrant worker, pushed Vinod from the moving train after he was asked about missing tickets.

It is also suspected that another train traveling in the opposite direction ran over his body.

The incident took place after the Ernakulam-Patna Express departed from Thrissur station.

His colleagues remember K Vinod, who was in his 40s, as a sincere officer who also played small roles in a few films.
