A family friend of the Princess of Wales has just highlighted the children’s reaction to their mother’s cancer diagnosis and how they cope with the situation.

A source close to the situation shared news of it all to PEOPLE, kicking off the entire conversation by sharing that the kids are the center of their world.

Kate’s children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis helped keep her in good spirits after her cancer diagnosis.

Prince William’s wife, Kate, revealed in an emotional video posted on March 22 that she received some form of preventive chemotherapy.

Kate is currently continuing her recovery process at home and will not be taking on any royal duties for the foreseeable.

A family friend of the Princess of Wales praised spending time with George, 10, Charlotte, eight, and Louis, five, as having a positive impact on Kate and William, who “made them happy with their smiles.”

“It’s important to have fun together as much as possible,” a source told People.

Of George, Charlotte and Louis, they added: “The children were the center of their world.”

In a video message, the princess confirmed she had told her three young children about her diagnosis.

Kate said: “We spent some time explaining everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that suited them and reassuring them that I would be fine.”

The family friend told the publication of George, Charlotte and Louis’ reaction to the news: “You feel inspired by the children’s extraordinary resilience”.

A date has not yet been set for Kate to return to public service while she undergoes treatment for her condition.

The Princess of Wales said the cancer was discovered during a check-up following abdominal surgery at a London clinic.

George, Charlotte and Louis have been on Easter break since 23 March.

Children will return to Langbrook School in Berkshire for the summer term on 17 April.
