On Earth Day, US President Joe Biden announced a new portal where job seekers can apply for positions in the Climate Corps to help young people secure green jobs as they move toward a green economy, digital journal the report said.

“Today we are mobilizing the next generation of clean energy, environmental protection, and climate resiliency workers,” Biden announced on X.

Biden said the new plan will train more than 20,000 young people to obtain “high-paying jobs” after completing paid training.

Biden, who is in a rematch with presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump in the upcoming November US election, has made the economy a focus of his campaign, particularly through his Inflation Cut Act.

The Inflation Reduction Act is a climate law designed to accelerate America’s transition to clean energy, rebuild industry, and promote social justice.

Biden launched the climate services plan last fall, and within weeks, the White House received more than 42,000 letters of interest from Americans, most of whom were between the ages of 18 and 35.

Ali Zaidi, Biden’s climate adviser, said the job was “available to young people of all backgrounds, no matter their qualifications, no matter their zip code, and now they can fill pathways and positions that help them get Skills for Success” in a clean energy economy. “
