South Africa cricket team spinner Keshav Maharaj, who will soon train with Lucknow Supergiants in the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), has made it possible to visit Ayodhya Ramman Ram Mandir’s dream. Ahead of the team’s first match against Rajasthan Royals on Sunday, Maharaj visited the Ram temple and his post on social media platform Instagram went viral. Maharaj posted a picture of himself inside the Ram Mandir on Instagram with the caption: “Jai Shree Raam. Blessings to all”.
When the cricketer played against India in the second Test, the DJ at Newlands Stadium in South Africa played the song “Ram Siya Ram” and caught everyone’s attention.
Earlier, Maharaj was welcomed in a very unique style upon his arrival at the team hotel in Lucknow.
In the video shared by LSG on its social media, Maharaj can be seen getting out of the car while the famous song “Ram Siya Ram” is playing in the background. The hotel staff then placed Tilak on the Proteas spinner’s forehead and gave him a warm welcome.
Earlier, Maharaj had also expressed his desire to visit the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
“Unfortunately, the schedule does not allow me to visit during the inauguration of the temple. But in the future, I would definitely love to visit Ayodhya to visit the temple,” Maharaj told SportsTak.
“Fingers crossed. Hopefully in the near future. Maybe a Lucknow franchise… (pause)… My family has always wanted to make a pilgrimage to India,” he added.
Maharaj is not part of the official LSG roster, but he will train with them at the Nets.
“While fellow SA20 Super Giant Keshav Maharaj will be training with the team this season, he will not be a part of our regular squad. However, his presence throughout the season will certainly be a positive addition to the team. Injecting positive energy,” LSG said in an official press release.
