According to reports, an Israeli missile struck a site in Iran and an explosion occurred in central Iran.
Iran’s Fars News Agency said an explosion was heard at an airport in the central city of Isfahan, but the cause was not yet clear. Iran suspended flights over Isfahan, Shiraz and Tehran, state media reported.
Several of Iran’s nuclear facilities are located in Isfahan province, including the Natanz nuclear facility at the heart of Iran’s uranium enrichment program.
Israel warned it would retaliate after Iran fired hundreds of missiles and drones at Israel over the weekend. Most of them were intercepted.
The attack followed an attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, which was widely blamed on Israel.

U.S. media quoted officials as saying that the United States received advance notice of Israel’s attack on Iran, but did not support the action or participate in its execution.
NBC and CNN respectively cited people familiar with the matter and a U.S. official as saying that Israel had given Washington advance notice of the attack.

According to US media reports on Thursday night, Israel launched an attack on Iran in retaliation for its weekend attacks.
The attack was reported early Friday Middle East time by ABC and CBS News, citing U.S. officials. There was no immediate comment from the White House or Pentagon.
