The Indian Consulate in India has dialed a helpline number for Indians and stranded passengers as unprecedented heavy rains hit the city and the northern emirates of the United Arab Emirates.

The consulate also said it was in contact with UAE authorities and airlines to facilitate stranded passengers.

The Indian Consulate said: “Airlines are providing regular updates to passengers and scaling up relief measures in partnership with Indian community organizations. We have facilitated contact between stranded passengers and their families in India. Helpline numbers will continue to be available , until normalcy returns. “We remain committed to serving the Indian community living in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. “
