Indian Americans hold ‘havan’ in US to pray for PM Modi’s poll victory

Indian-American tech professionals from Silicon Valley held a special havan at a Hindu temple to pray for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The “havan” event hosted by the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of Overseas Friends of the Bharatiya Janata Party (OFBJP) in the United States attracted a large number of people. “This is not just a ritual but a collective prayer aimed at fulfilling the wishes of the majority of Indians and non-residents,” a media release said.

OFBJP said the community has come together to pray for a decisive victory for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party under Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the upcoming assembly elections, echoing the popular sentiment of “Abki Baar, 400 Paar”.

“This spiritual gathering reflects a deep-seated belief in the democratic process and a desire for continued progress and governance reform in India,” the statement said.

Prime Minister Modi has set a target for the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to win more than 400 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, with the BJP alone winning more than 370 seats.

The Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases from April 19 to June 1, and the results will be announced on June 4.
