India and Nepal sign MoU on three high-impact community development projects in education, health and culture sectors

India and Nepal on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to implement three High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) in Nepal, each in the fields of education, health and culture, at an estimated cost of Rs 122.52 million.

The Embassy of India in China signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration of Nepal to implement three projects under the HICDP with grant assistance from the Government of India, a press release issued by the Indian Embassy in China said.

The three projects include construction of school and hostel buildings for Shree Dang-Bang Secondary School in Airawati Rural Municipality in Pyuthan district; construction of Khamlalung Health Post building in Aathrai Rural Municipality in Terhathum district; and construction and infrastructure development of Chandan Bharateshwor Mahadev Temple in Chandragiri Municipality in Kathmandu. project. The embassy said the projects, which will be implemented through the local authorities of Airavati Rural Municipality, Atraji Rural Municipality and Chandragiri Municipality respectively, will further strengthen cultural ties between the two countries.

Since 2003, India has launched over 550 HICDP projects in Nepal and completed 488 projects at the grassroots level in all seven provinces of Nepal, covering health, education, drinking water, connectivity, sanitation and other public facilities. and other fields. The remaining 62 projects are ongoing and at various stages of implementation.

The total cost of all projects is approximately Nepalese rupees 12.2 billion (Indian rupees 7.62 billion). As close neighbors, India and Nepal have extensive and multi-field cooperation. The implementation of HICDP reflects the Government of India’s continued support to the Government of Nepal in its efforts to improve people’s lives and strengthen infrastructure in Nepal’s priority sectors such as education, health and cultural sectors, the release said.
