Unidentified man breaches airport security in Australia, walks onto road

A bizarre incident took place at Sydney International Airport in Australia, where an unidentified 30-year-old man entered the airfield and attempted to board a nearby passenger plane. 9 news,

Officers in Sydney responded to a call about an unidentified man breaching airport security and “entering the main screening area”.

He also headed towards the tarmac, before being arrested by the local police.

In a statement, the Australian Federal Police (AFP) said the man had been detained.

“AFP officers arrested a man in his 30s who allegedly fled from the main screening area and accessed restricted areas, including the apron,” the statement said.

The outlet described the apron as an area where passengers’ luggage is loaded onto the lane outside the terminal before being transported to the runway.

Outside the terminal, the man was seen wandering on top of an aerobridge, he was later reportedly seen running away from the screening area inside the airport terminal.

Later, he allegedly attempted to enter the cargo hold of a Sri Lanka-bound passenger plane, however, airport authorities intervened and the arrest was made.

The man arrested was taken to a hospital for medical evaluation, officials said.

Despite a court appearance he was not charged but was banned from entering Sydney International Airport for 12 months.
