'I practice yoga, follow vegetarian diet': Chief Justice's fitness mantra

Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud inaugurated the Ayush Holistic Wellness Center in the Supreme Court complex here on Thursday.

Speaking to news agency ANI, CJI Chandrachud said that holistic lifestyle is important not only for the judges and their immediate families, but also for the staff members.

“I had Panchakarma done about a year ago, and now I am looking forward to doing it again, as it is the turn of the season. However, our colleagues in the Supreme Court, including all 34 judges, have over 2000 staff members. Daily operations involve tremendous stress, leading to a heavy workload on files. I believe it is important to consider the overall lifestyle, not only for the judges and their immediate families, but also for the staff members. .Through them, we can propagate this message to the rest of the country,” he said

“On the benefits of traditional Ayurveda, I am very grateful to all the doctors and AYUSH. They have a wonderful facility in Saket, and now we are bringing it to the Supreme Court. Every doctor who contributed to it prepared it scientifically The facility is there. We are presenting it before the Supreme Court and through it the entire country.”

Chief Justice Chandrachud shares insights on his wellness practices.

“I practice yoga. I woke up today at 3:30 am to do yoga. Also, I am following a vegetarian diet for the last 5 months. I am trying to focus on the holistic pattern of life, Which is what you start eating, of course, and what you put into your system,” the CJI said.

Earlier, during the announcement of the joint national level project of health screening and management through Ayurvedic interventions on Wednesday, Union Minister for AYUSH and Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal said, “To make India a self-reliant nation, we need every Indians disease-free.”

This project will benefit more than 20,000 tribal students. The Ministry of AYUSH through its research council, Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) has launched this health initiative for tribal students in collaboration with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and ICMR-National Institute for Research in Tribal Health, Jabalpur. ,
