Since demonetization in 2016, Paytm has become a part of our lives. People widely use Paytm for various transactions ranging from small and large value payments to FASTag. Most vehicles have a FASTag issued by Paytm, which is linked to their Paytm account. Meanwhile, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) took regulatory action against Paytm Payments Bank (PPBL). Due to this action, all services including Paytm’s FASTag will be affected. So today, let us know what will happen to those who have Paytm FASTag.

Is FASTag portable? Or does it have to be deactivated? Apart from this, an important question is: How to switch to another FASTag? The regulatory bank ordered on January 31 that PPBL must stop accepting deposits or “top-ups” of customers’ accounts, wallets, FASTags and other products after February 29. Customers can use the balance of other accounts including savings bank accounts, current accounts, prepaid products, FASTag and National Universal Mobile Card until the balance is available.

Here’s how to deactivate Paytm FASTag:

1. Log in to FASTag Paytm portal. During this process, user ID, wallet ID, and password must be entered.

2. Now you have to enter the FASTag number, registered mobile number and many other details required for verification.

3. Scroll down the page and click on the Help and Support option.

4. Now, tap on “Need help with a non-order related query?”

5. After this, select the query options related to updating the FASTag profile.

6. Here, one has to select the option “I want to turn off my FASTag” and follow the subsequent steps.

Keep in mind that once deactivated, you cannot reactivate the same FASTag again.

Here’s how to port FASTag from Paytm:

1. To port or transfer FASTag from Paytm, call the customer care department of the bank to which you want to transfer FASTag.

2. Tell them you want to switch.

3. Share the required details and the migration will be completed.

According to a statement from Paytm, the RBI notification will not affect deposits in user savings accounts, wallets, FASTag and NCMC accounts.
