Prime Minister Narendra Modi will distribute appointment letters to new recruits in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands through video conferencing at the ‘Rozgar Mela’ (job expo) to be held here on February 12, an official said .

The official said that all the selected candidates have been informed that appointment orders will be issued during the ‘Rozgar Mela’ scheduled to be held on February 12 and they have been asked to attend Netaji Stadium.

“The Rozgar Mela (Employment Fair) is scheduled to be held on February 12 at Netaji Stadium, Port Blair. All the candidates selected for the Group C posts (released by the local government on January 24, 2024 and February 6, 2024 list) will receive letters of appointment,” he said. A total of 2,721 people will get mela appointment letters, the official said.

Union Minister of State (Commerce and Industry) Som Prakash will be the chief guest, while Lieutenant Governor and Vice Chairman Island Development Authority, Admiral DK Joshi (retd) will be the chief guest. Bin. Andaman and Nicobar Island MP Kuldeep Rai Sharma and chief secretary Keshav Chandra will also be present at the event.

The Federal Territories Administration has arranged special bus services and boat services for candidates from North Andaman, Central Andaman and Southern Islands to travel to Port Blair for the event. The government has asked all senior officials of the North, Central and South Islands to provide boat/helicopter tickets to selected candidates for the Rozgar Mela’ on priority basis so that they can participate in the programme.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Som Prakash will arrive in Port Blair on February 10 for a three-day visit to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, an official said. Union ministers will visit the cells on Sunday. He will participate in the ‘Rozgar Mela’ on February 12 at Netaji Stadium. Thereafter, he will convene a review meeting on logistics policy for Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The official added that on February 13, the minister will visit the Sagarmala project site in Swaraj Dweep.
