Virat Kohli scored one more half-goal for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2024 but his team lost to Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday. RCB have now lost two out of three matches and the start of IPL 2024 has been timid to say the least. RCB is one of the four teams yet to win the IPL. Every year, RCB fans hope for a different story. But what happened was exactly the opposite.

Although RCB is one of the most star-studded teams, its results have been poor. Kohli topped the list with an unbeaten 83 off 59 deliveries on Friday. No other RCB batsman reached 35 runs. RCB scored 182/6 in 20 overs but KKR reached the target in just 16.5 overs.

Former Indian cricket team captain Sunil Gavaksar lashed out at RCB batsmen after the loss.

“You tell me how much Kohli can do on his own – there should be someone with him and if someone had supported him today he would have definitely scored 120 and not 83, so this is a team sport and not a solo game and he didn’t get any help Support today,” Sunil Gavaskar said on Star Sports.

The M Chinnaswamy Stadium once again witnessed Kohli’s extraordinary artistry with the bat as he scored 83* with 4 boundaries and 4 sixes in just 59 deliveries.

He hit four sixes in the unbeaten match, surpassing former Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni’s record of six in the IPL.

The iconic RCB batsman has hit 241 sixes and became the fourth highest-scoring batsman in the history of the tournament. MS Dhoni slips to fifth position with 239 sixes.

Kohli became the highest wicket-taker for RCB in the history of IPL as cricket fans were in awe of Kohli’s effortless batting performance.

He surpassed RCB Hall of Fame star Chris Gayle’s total of 239 sixes. AB de Villiers, another RCB Hall of Famer, is third with 238 sixes.

Overall, Gayle holds the record for hitting the most sixes in the IPL with 357 highest scores. Former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma ranks second with 261 sixes in the IPL and de Villiers ranks third with 251 sixes.

Coming to the match, Shreyas Iyer won the toss to help the home team bat. Virat Kohli used sheer willpower to score 83* with 4 boundaries and 4 maximums in just 59 deliveries.

Kohli completed his 50 in the 11th over with a single off the bowling of Varn Chakravarthy. In the same over, Bengaluru crossed the 100-run mark with Maxwell hitting a boundary on the penultimate ball.

His effortless batting made him the Orange Cap holder for the season and pushed RCB to 182/6.
