'Incomplete on Earth': Himanta Biswa Sarma attacks opposition alliance

Guwahati:

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, while taking a jibe at the INDI alliance, said the alliance was intact, not on earth but on the moon and sun.

His statement comes after the Congress party recently said that the Indian bloc will cross the half-mark of 272 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

“INDI alliance is intact, not on earth but on moon and sun. On earth, we do not see the presence of many political parties like TMC and Janta Dal United. So, with our normal eyes, we cannot see “Union of India. However, it may be present in the sun or moon which is invisible to our naked eyes,” the Assam chief minister said.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also said that the people of Assam and India will participate in the upcoming elections with confidence and a clear sense of identity. He stressed that they would not be on the defensive but would participate freely and wholeheartedly.

“The people of Assam and India will not go to this election with a defensive posture. We will go to the election with a liberal mind because we do not have an identity crisis at the moment. Of course, 20 years later, that is another story. So this will be an election in which the people of Assam will participate in this election with complete freedom of mind,” he said.

Assam is an important state in Northeast India and is divided into 14 Lok Sabha constituencies. The 2024 Assam Lok Sabha elections are planned to be held in three phases, with polling days on April 19, April 26 and May 7.
