Ranchi:
The Jharkhand High Court on Wednesday rejected the plea of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, in which he had sought permission to participate in the ongoing budget session of the Assembly.
The session began on 23 February and will end on 2 March.
Soren, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case last month, had on Friday filed an application before the High Court seeking permission to attend the budget session.
After hearing the arguments, Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad had reserved his decision on Monday.
The court had earlier allowed Soren, the working president of the ruling JMM, to participate in the trust vote in the Assembly on February 5.
The high court reserved its order in another petition filed by Soren challenging his arrest by the ED.
The case was heard by the division bench of Acting Chief Justice Shri Chandrashekhar and Justice Navneet Kumar.
Soren was sent to Birsa Munda Central Jail on February 15 after 13 days of ED custody.
