TV chef Si King has thanked those who took part in a motorcycle ride in memory of late Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers, saying “he would have loved it”.
Miles, who was part of the motorcycle cooking duo with co-host King, died in February at the age of 66 after a battle with cancer.
In honor of the late TV star, motorcyclists from across the country will come together on Sunday morning to form a motorcade to pay tribute to the late TV star and raise funds for cancer research.
King posted a message on the HairyBikers Instagram account ahead of the ride on Sunday, along with a photo of the bikers stationed at the initial meeting point.
The statement said: “I hope everyone has a safe journey. Thank you so much for honoring Dave’s memory in this way.
“He would have loved it. Dave’s family and friends and I were so touched.
“Love you all and stay safe.”
The ride, organized by East Yorkshire Biker Escorts, will start in Beverley Market, Yorkshire, before traveling through various towns in North Yorkshire, including Skagsthorpe and Pickering.
After two and a half hours, the route is scheduled to end in the afternoon in the seaside town of Scarborough.
The event’s Facebook page states that the ride will be scheduled and local police have been notified.
It also said it expected up to 3,000 bikes to take part due to expressions of interest on the event page.
Born in Barrow-in-Furness, Miles traveled the world on motorcycles with King, cooking up a storm along the way and earning himself a loyal following.
The pair also won over viewers with their cheeky northern humor and enthusiasm.
The bearded duo have filmed a number of cooking series and specials for the BBC, and have traveled to countries such as India, Vietnam, Argentina and Mexico in search of new dishes.
King and Miles’ final series, The Hairy Bikers Go West, continued to air on BBC Two after his death.
As well as his travel series, Miles competes on Strictly Come Dancing and has published more than 25 cookbooks.
