Royal Challengers Bangalore are going through a tough time in the ongoing IPL as the Faf du Plessis-led side managed just one win in five games. Their latest defeat was against Rajasthan Royals where RCB failed to defend the target of 184 runs. The match was played in Jaipur with Virat Kohli falling behind with a century but a disappointing performance from RCB bowlers cost them the game. Apart from Kohli, RR opener Jos Buttler also broke his unbeaten record with 58 balls.

Recently, former India opener Virender Sehwag slammed RCB captain Du Plessis and the team management for not rotating the bowlers properly.

“I don’t understand Faf du Plessis’ captaincy. A bowler who shouldn’t bowl in the last over of the powerplay is Mayank Dagar. Even as an impact player, they should have picked Vijaykumar Vyshak, Because he can use the cutter well “But they were ahead of Himanshu Sharma, who failed to make an impact. Don’t know what the management is doing and even Faf du Plessis’ captaincy is not up to high standards,” Sehwag told Cricbuzz.

“They made a few mistakes and he didn’t even use Glenn Maxwell and a computer analyst said Buttler’s numbers were not very good against off-spinners. Maxwell has dismissed a couple of right-handed batsmen. I It’s surprising that Maxwell, RCB’s most successful bowler, didn’t even bowl a single ball this season,” he added.

India pacer Mohammed Shami also weighed in on the discussion, criticizing RCB for not using all-rounder Glenn Maxwell as a bowling option against RR.

“What I don’t understand is that if a left-hand batsman is batting then we don’t give the ball to the left-hand spinner and if a right-hand batsman is batting then we don’t give the ball to the left-hand spinner. I Don’t know who made such rules or what the mentality was, Ashwin is also a right-handed bowler. If you look at the records, Maxwell has been the bowler for RCB and you pushed the same bowler out of the game,” Shami said.
