Former Australian cricket team player Brad Hogg believes that the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, with Pandya as captain, will not be successful without all-rounder Hardik Pandya. The performance of the Gujarat Titans will actually be better. GT won the championship in 2022 and finished as runners-up in 2023 after being defeated by Chennai Super Kings in the finals. However, ahead of IPL 2024, he completed a sensational deal with Mumbai Indians.Although there were concerns that GT would not be able to find a suitable replacement for the Indian star, Hogg said in a recently released video YouTube channelHogg thinks this will not be a big loss for them.
“I don’t think Hardik Pandya is that big of a loss (for GT). Yes, he is a quality all-rounder in the middle order, but they can cover it. They have very good bowling depth there “He is batting at the top of the order but I don’t think he is best suited there, so the Gujarat Titans are better off without him,” Hogg said.
“Mumbai would be better off with an Indian all-rounder batting in the lower middle order and I think that’s where Hardik will bat. I think we will see Hardik get back to his best form with Mumbai Indians,” Hogg added.
Hardik Pandya has joined the Mumbai Indians (MI) training camp ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season starting on March 22 this year.
Notably, Pandya will replace five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy-winning captain Rohit Sharma as captain of Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 2024 season.
In a video posted by the official X (formerly Twitter) account of Mumbai Indians (MI), Pandya can be seen entering the MI dressing room and performing pooja with head coach Mark Boucher.
