Raisen, Madhya Pradesh:
An oil tanker caught fire after falling into a ravine in Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh on Sunday, killing the driver and cleaner, police said.
The accident took place around 3.30 pm on the Bhopal-Jabalpur highway within the limits of Sultanpur police station, about 40 km from the district headquarters, an official said.
Superintendent of Sultanpur police station, Rajat Sarathe, said the driver of the capsule tanker transporting liquefied petroleum gas lost control of the vehicle and the vehicle fell into the ravine.
He said the tanker caught fire and the fire spread to several nearby huts, killing four to five cows.
The driver and cleaner were both burned to death and have not yet been identified, the official said.
He said fire engines had been called in from neighboring towns and fire-fighting operations were underway.
A case has been registered in this regard, the official said.
