The DSP said a person in the car allegedly pulled out a gun and opened fire, killing an elderly man, prompting locals to thrash the people in the car, killing three of them. One died, while two were injured.

Four people, three of them travelers from nearby Jharkhand, were killed on Monday in Bihar’s Aurangabad district, where a dispute over car parking turned into a large-scale clash between two parties, a police official said.

According to Aurangabad DSP Mohammad Amanullah Khan, the incident took place in Nabinagar area where a shopkeeper objected to a motorist parking his car in front of his premises.

He further said, “Although the incident involved members of two different communities, there was no communal angle to the clash. However, adequate number of forces have been deployed to prevent any eventuality.

According to the DSP, the car had come from Palamu district of Jharkhand and the people traveling in it were residents of Haidernagar area.

On reaching Nabinagar, the driver stopped the car in front of a shop at Taitaria turn. When the shopkeeper protested, a heated argument broke out. One of the people in the car took out a gun and fired a shot which hit a person standing nearby”, the DSP said.

The spectator, identified as Ram Sharan Chauhan, a local resident, died on the spot, enraging the spectators gathered at the spot, he said.

The angry mob attacked the people sitting in the car and attacked them with whatever they could get their hands on. A police team reached the spot and dispersed the crowd, Mohammad Mujahid, Charan Mansoori and Mohammad Ansari were beaten to death”, Khan said.

Two others, Vakil Ansari and Ajit Sharma, suffered injuries. Ansari’s condition, admitted to Sadar Hospital in Aurangabad, was stable, while Sharma’s condition was critical and he was referred to a hospital in Gaya.

The DSP said an investigation is being conducted to find out who pulled the trigger on Chauhan and to identify those who attacked the people in the car.
