Pakistan’s jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party claimed on Saturday that his nephew Hassan Niazi was “kidnapped” by the military and moved to an undisclosed location to put pressure on him.

Days earlier, Mr Khan, 71, claimed that Pakistan’s army chief General Asim Munir was directly responsible for the imprisonment of his wife, Bushra Bibi.

More than 100 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders and staff have been detained by the Army and face court-martial for their alleged involvement in attacks on key military installations in May last year when Imran Khan was arrested in a corruption case.

Mr. Khan, the PTI founder, faces over 100 cases and has been lodged in Rawalpindi Adiala Jail for over eight months.

“We strongly condemn the abduction of Imran Khan’s nephew Hassan Niazi and another young Justice Party leader Ibad Farooq from military captivity. We want the Supreme Court to ensure their immediate release them and hold the kidnappers accountable,” Justice Party spokesman Raof Hassan said in a statement.

The spokesperson expressed serious concern over the transfer of PTI leader Hassan to unknown locations and said about 100 innocent citizens were illegally detained by the military under the guise of “May 9 False Flag Operation” and subjected to political persecution. revenge.

“The inhumane treatment meted out to the young leaders of PTI is purely political as they bravely faced the worst state oppression and atrocities over the past 10 months,” he said.

He said the kidnapping of Niazi and Farooq was a public attack on the sanctity of law and justice and a violation of basic human and constitutional rights. “It is unconstitutional to try civilians under military law.” The spokesperson further said that targeting Mr. Khan’s nephew Hassan Niazi as a target of political revenge and putting pressure on the illegally imprisoned founding leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is shameful and Reprehensible.

He went on to say that coercive and shameful tactics are being used against Ibad Farooq to punish his brother for participating in the by-elections and to prevent him from participating in the electoral process.

The spokesperson asked the Supreme Court of Pakistan to take the enforced disappearance and kidnapping of Hassan Niazi and Ibad Farooq into account, ensure their speedy recovery, and hold the kidnappers accountable.

Earlier, Mr Khan claimed General Munir was directly involved in the sentencing of his wife, Bushra Bibi.

“If something happens to my wife, I will not let Asim Munir go; as long as I am alive, I will not let Asim Munir go. I will expose his unconstitutional and illegal behavior,” he threatened.
