Major Jerry Blaze and Captain Supreeta CT are set to become the first couple to march on the duty path as members of two different contingents in the Republic Day Parade on January 26. ”This is the first time in the history of the Republic Day parade. Major Blaze told PTI.

The couple, who will marry in June 2023, said it was just a coincidence that they were getting a chance to march together on this occasion. ”This did not happen as planned. This is a coincidence. Initially, I gave my selection test and became successful. Then my husband also got selected from his regiment,” said Captain Supreeta.

He was part of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) during college. ”My wife participated in the NCC Republic Day Parade at Path of Duty, New Delhi in 2016 and I got the opportunity to be a part of the NCC Republic Day Camp in New Delhi in 2014. This was one of the motivating factors for me to lead my regiment on the path of duty on Republic Day 2024 and make my regiment proud,” said Major Blaze.

Captain Supreeta is from Mysore, Karnataka and has graduated in law from JSS Law College in the city. Major Blaze is from Wellington, Tamil Nadu, and graduated from Jain University, Bengaluru. He currently lives in Delhi. They are from different regiments and take part in the practice sessions separately. “My husband is from the Madras Regiment and I am part of the military police force,” said Captain Supreeta.

“We are posted at different places and this is an opportunity that both of us are getting to spend time together for these two months in New Delhi. It is a very proud moment for both of us that we are here with our respective contingents.” He said that their families are happy and they will come to attend the parade.
