Multiple social media users shared a collage of four pictures of actor Anupam Kher. he wrote on his fourth photo with actor Akshay Kumar, who is his son. An investigation by the PTI fact-checking desk found that the text on the photo contained false statements.

On April 12, a Facebook user shared a collage of four photos of actor Anupam Kher. The first two are photos of Kher, the third is a photo of him and his wife Kirron Kher, and the fourth is a photo of Akshay Kumar with the text “son.”

The post, which has over 186,000 views, was captioned: “Who doesn’t know actor Anupam Kher who ruled Bollywood in the 80s and 90s? He earned billions of rupees from acting. Today we show you some of his old pictures. “Anupam Kher considers Akshay Kumar as his son.

The English translation of the title is as follows: “Who doesn’t know actor Anupam Kher, who ruled Bollywood in the 80s and 90s? He earned lakhs of rupees through acting. Today we will show you Anupam ·Some old pictures of Kher. Anupam Kher considers Akshay Kumar as his son.”

investigation

After the investigation began, The Desk viewed the viral photo through Google Lens and discovered multiple Facebook posts containing the same photo and similar claims.

The Desk further conducted a customized keyword search on Google and found a report published by the Hindustan Times on October 31, 2023.

The report was headlined “Anupam Kher’s birthday post for son Sikandar Kher mentions Karen Kher’s wish: May you shave every other day”

Inspired by this, The Desk scanned Kher’s official Instagram account and found the same photo shared by him.

“Happy birthday, dearest Sikandar! You have grown into an amazing man! Confident, vulnerable, responsible most of the time, certainly funnier, and loving when you want! And a wonderful actor ! 😁😍! May God bless you with happiness, health and peace! May you shave every other day ❤️🙌🕉 @sikandarkher” Read the title of the post.

The Desk conducted another advanced Google search while looking for information about Akshay Kumar’s family.

The IMDb website mentions: “Rajiv Hari “Akshay Kumar” Om Bhatia was born on September 9, 1967 in Amritsar, Punjab, to Aruna Bhatia and Hari Om Bhatia”.

The department then concluded that photos of Kher with actor Akshay Kumar, who claimed to be his son, were shared in a misleading way.
