Indian star and Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant recovered from a fatal car accident in December 2022 and revealed the severity of the accident. Doctors are even considering amputation, Pant said. The accident seriously injured Pant’s right knee, which required ligament reconstruction surgery in addition to broken wrists and ankles. But he did a great job of rebounding. The BCCI on Tuesday declared Pant fit to play as a wicketkeeper-batsman in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL), brightening the prospects of his comeback in the T20 World Cup after suffering multiple injuries in a tragic car accident 14 months ago .

“If you are spiritual, you become more disciplined. It’s a personal choice. It helped me focus on myself. When my accident happened, I felt some kind of spirituality saved me. In the kind of accident I had , I only hurt my knee, but I couldn’t even imagine how bad it would get. The doctor even talked to me about amputation. I always think about God. This is completely different.I knew someone was watching me,” Pant told me times of india.

Pant, who will captain DC again, has undergone extensive rehabilitation and is ready to shoulder double duty in the tournament starting on March 22, ending weeks of speculation surrounding his exact role in the league.

A few weeks ago, Pant, in an interaction with Star Sports, recalled telling doctors that his recovery time would be shortened by at least six months.

A week ago, the National Cricket Academy declared him fit after he passed all fitness tests related to his Return to Play (RTP).

It is understood that he batted for long periods of time and, more importantly, kept wickets for long periods of time in a match simulation organized by the NCA.

There was speculation that he might only serve as an ‘influencer’ or batsman, but one of India’s biggest match-winners of the past six years has managed to return to form and give it his all.

Maintaining wicket momentum also means that if he can play some impactful innings during the IPL season, he will have a fair chance of playing in the T20 World Cup.

Pant was present at the Capitals match during the IPL auction last year and has been undergoing fitness training at the NCA after recovering from the injury in the unfortunate incident.
