Dharavi Redevelopment Project Private Limited, a joint venture between the Maharashtra government and the Adani Group, will start a data collection survey on lakhs of informal apartment dwellers in the area from March 18.

The data will be used by the Maharashtra government to determine eligibility criteria for rehabilitation under proposed redevelopment projects.

The survey will also create “Digital Dharavi” – a state-of-the-art library in one of the world’s largest informal settlements.

The investigation will start from Kamla Raman Nagar, where each informal house has a unique number. The corresponding lanes are then laser mapped, called a “lidar survey.” .

Eligible industrial and commercial units in the redeveloped Dharavi will enjoy state goods and services tax exemption for five years. This will help promote and formalize their business, the tender said.
