Delhi Police team attacked while trying to catch criminals

A Delhi Police team was allegedly attacked by the family members of a criminal they were trying to nab in west Delhi’s Rajari Garden area, officials said on Monday.

The incident took place on Sunday night when personnel from Mohan Garden police station in Dwarka went to arrest Adil, who is facing several cases of robbery and snatching. They said locals were also supporting the criminals and hampering the movement of the police team.

Three police officers were slightly injured in the incident. Later, more police personnel from Rajauri Garden and Tilak Nagar police stations were called and Adil, he His parents and cousin were arrested.

Police said they have registered an FIR against some people who allegedly attacked the police team.

According to police, Adil was tracked down by a team of policemen from Mohan Garden police station on Sunday night.

“When the team reached Adil’s house around 9pm, his parents and other relatives blocked their way. When the police team resisted, Adil and his family attacked them and damaged their car, said DCP Veer.

Another officer said police were able to control Adil’s angry family members by using mild force.

The official said a case under IPC sections 186 (obstructing a public servant in the discharge of official duties) and 353 (use of assault or criminal force to prevent a public servant from discharging his duties) has been registered.

Police said further investigations are underway to identify those involved.
