“The Home Ministry has issued instructions for verification of tenants and servants, border checking, security of vital establishments, malls and markets and patrolling in heavily crowded areas,” another senior police officer said.

“We are taking strict action against those who are not following the orders and registering FIRs,” he said.

Police said they used drones to monitor sensitive areas in the northeastern district on Tuesday, with a flag march being taken out on Monday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Joy Tirkey said Delhi Police is “fully prepared for January 22 and 26”.

“We have already strengthened security at various pickets, drones are being used, there will be flag marches and double-layer security,” he said.

Delhi Police is conducting mock drills to check its response preparedness and control riot-like situations.
