“I was scared by Alan Rickman. How could you not be scared by that voice?” he recalled of his early days working with the Snape actor.
“Even hearing that voice, you forget how low it is until it’s ringing in your ears. In the first three movies, I was terrified by him,” he admits, “I was terrified by him, Like, ‘This guy hates me.'”
Over time, however, Rickman developed a special bond with the 34-year-old actor.
“He saw every stage piece I did while he was alive,” Radcliffe recalled. “He would take me out afterward and we would talk about it. He was one of the first people to say, ‘You should think about voice training and look into all this stuff.'”
Radcliffe’s emotions were triggered when the host played a video of a 2015 interview with Rickman, who died in 2016, in which Rickman praised Radcliffe and said he was grateful to see him in Proud to perform on Broadway.
