Dakota Johnson’s ‘Mrs. Web’ reveals surprising connection to Spider-Man

Mrs. Spider-Man is the latest addition to Sony’s Spider-Man universe, captivating audiences with its unique take on the Spider-Man mythos. Starring Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Cassie Webber, the film opens a new chapter in the Spider-Verse, focusing on Cassie’s journey with her newfound precognitive powers and her interactions with other key characters . One of the biggest questions among fans is whether Spider-Man will appear in the movie. While Spider-Man isn’t directly tied to any previous live-action Spider-Man, it does have a surprising connection to the iconic Spider-Man.

When the girls seek refuge with Ben and Mary Parker, tensions rise, leading to Mary giving birth to a baby boy. While the film doesn’t specify the baby’s name, it’s revealed that he is a young Peter Parker, adding a poignant connection to Spider-Man’s lore.

Director SJ Clarkson confirmed in a recent interview with ComicBook that Mrs. Webb exists in a separate world, separate from the previous Spider-Man narrative. This approach allowed Clarkson to create a fresh and original story without the constraints of fitting into the existing universe.

“This is really Mrs. Weber’s story,” explains producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. “We’re doing an origin story for Mrs. Weber, and you understand how she became that person. So, I think it’s going to be very fresh new territory for fans.”
