New Delhi:

Amid drama between the Congress nominee for Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi Lok Sabha seat and the BJP’s Kangana Ranaut, state Congress president Pratibha Singh on Saturday Said that the party leaders felt that a young leader should be fielded to name Vikramaditya Singh.

“We held discussions on the shortlisted 2-3 candidates. It depends on the high command, Mallikarjun Kharge and the names they approve. All our senior leaders felt that a young leader should be fielded this time. Therefore, a consensus has been reached on the name of Vikramaditya (Singh). The name will be finalized soon,” she said.

After the meeting, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sohu said that we have discussed 4 seats. Tickets for Mandy will also be announced soon.

Senior party leader Rajeev Shukla said, “The entire discussion in the meeting was about Himachal Pradesh. Candidates for two seats have been finalized and the remaining two seats are still under consideration. “

Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh Minister Vikramaditya Singh on Thursday slammed BJP candidate and actor Kangana Ranaut for her ‘Chhota Pappu’ remarks, Said he would pray to Lord Ram to give her some “sanity”.

In the video, Singh said Kangana Ranaut was trying to mislead people and divert national issues and challenged her to debate him.

“We respect our sister Kangana Ranaut. Today she addressed the people of Manali. If she can discuss and talk about the biggest disaster in Manali instead of going against the Congress party and its leaders, That would be great.’ This century, it happened in Manali a few months ago,” Singh said.

The BJP won all four seats in 2019. Counting will be completed on June 4.

Mandi constituency is considered a stronghold of former chief minister Veerbhadra Singh’s family.
The seat is currently held by the late leader’s wife Pratibha Singh. She was elected after a by-election in 2021, after the seat fell vacant due to the death of BJP MP Ram Swaroop Sharma.
