Chef Kunal Kapoor claims wife disrespects parents, says he's lying

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday granted divorce to celebrity chef Kunal Kapoor citing cruelty from his estranged wife. The court found that Mr Kapoor’s wife had acted with a lack of dignity and empathy towards him.

Mr. Kapoor accused his wife of being disrespectful and insulting to him. Kapoor, best known for his role as a judge on the hit TV show MasterChef, claimed his wife had been disrespectful of his parents and embarrassed him in public.

In response, his wife refuted the accusations, calling them fabrications and an attempt to mislead the court. She said she tried to maintain a loving and committed relationship with Mr Kapoor and dismissed any suggestions of disrespect or abuse.

“In view of the above facts of this case, we find that the defendant (wife) behaved towards the appellant (husband) with a lack of dignity and compassion.

“When one spouse adopts such an attitude towards the other, it brings shame to the very nature of marriage and there is no reason why he should be forced to endure the misery of living together,” a bench said. Suresh ·Said Kumar Kate and Neena Bansal Krishna.

The court examined the veracity of Mr Kapoor’s wife’s allegations, highlighting his rapid professional success in a short period of time. The court noted that this success demonstrated his dedication and hard work and cast doubt on the credibility of the allegations against him.

The court concluded that the allegations made by Mr Kapoor’s wife lacked evidence and were aimed at damaging his reputation. The court said such baseless accusations amounted to cruelty and had a harmful impact on a person’s reputation.

The estranged couple married in April 2008 and had a son in 2012.
