King Charles is said to be responding well to his cancer treatment and his road to recovery looks “very positive” as he looked “looking fine” on Easter Sunday.

The 75-year-old monarch made his first public appearance after being diagnosed with an unknown cancer in January.

His reaction to treatment reportedly led to doctors giving him the go-ahead to greet the public after Easter morning prayers at St George’s Chapel in Windsor.

A royal source stressed that the King’s treatment was continuing and caution remained “the watchword” but it was hoped he would be able to make further appearances in the summer.

“Nothing will be confirmed until closer to the time and plans are still changing and subject to medical guidance, but doctors and patients alike have a lot of hope and optimism,” the source said. Tell daily telegraph.

“Of course, His Majesty has been carrying out all official duties privately and has been photographed at some smaller Palace events, but hopefully today will reassure the wider public that His Majesty is doing a great job and the path forward looks very positive”.

They added: “It can be seen that the King’s response to treatment over the past few weeks has been very encouraging, so his doctors have been able to slightly adjust their guidance on what His Majesty is now able to do, including attending Easter services and greeting well-wishers People came to show their support.”

Charles smiled and waved to the crowd as he arrived for the annual church service with Queen Camilla on Sunday morning. Public comments said the monarch looked well and was in “good spirits”.

As part of a surprise walk, he shook hands and spoke to those gathered at the castle, telling them: “You are very brave to stand here in the cold.”

American opera singer Alethea Kilgore, who attended the funeral, said: “I think (Charles’ presence) is really meaningful.

“It shows that he’s doing a good job and his health is definitely improving, so it’s good to see that.”

Ms Kilgore said seeing the King walking around after the ceremony was “a really wonderful experience”. “I wasn’t sure I would be able to see him so close today, but I did,” she added.

Henry Wood, a 20-year-old private wine merchant from Basingstoke, also attended the service at St George’s Church with his family.

He said: “It was a very good Easter service, very enjoyable. It was great to see the king in high spirits and the whole family in high spirits as if nothing had happened.

“Obviously this is his first appearance in quite a while and I think people want to see him for that reason. He looked in good shape today, in good spirits and from what I heard he did a great job, So it was refreshing to hear from him.”

Anne Daley, 65, from Cardiff, Wales, raised the Welsh flag as the king arrived and was the first to speak to the king when he reappeared.

She said: “Did you see the smile (Charles) gave me? He pointed at my flag.” Ms Daley added: “He had a lovely smile. He looked good. I think he was delighted with us. They’re all here.”

The King and Queen attended the annual event along with other members of the Royal Family, including the Princess Royal and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York.

Kate Middleton, the Prince of Wales and their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis all attended last year but were absent from the Easter Sunday service.

The Princess of Wales announced last week that she had begun preventive chemotherapy following a cancer diagnosis.
