While there is talk about Imtiaz Ali’s big Netflix directorial Flashy Sky is touching, its makers have released the first song of the film Ishq Mitaye on Thursday. Premiering on April 12 on Netflix, Chamkila is the untold true story of Punjab’s singing sensation, the highest record selling artist of his time, Amar Singh. Flashy, A blend of traditional and modern tunes, the song Ishq Mitaye tries to reflect the rise of Flashy and his singing partner, later wife Amarjot Kaur. The song features the duo performing outdoors, in small gatherings or on stage, and earning applause from the audience while doing so. Sung by Mohit Chauhan and composed by AR Rahman, the track is, truly, music to the ears and makes the wait for the release of the film even tougher.

The song was shared by the film’s lead pair Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra on their respective Instagram feeds. The caption accompanying the post reads, “All the colors of the world have come before me, I have put them with my blood…I am the main one in Punjab.,

Last year, Imtiaz Ali had announced his new project with a teaser, a biopic on late singer Amar Singh Chamkila, who was murdered in 1988 at the age of 27. Amar Singh Chamkila was the highest record selling artist of Punjab at that time. Diljit Dosanjh is playing the lead role in the film which also stars Parineeti Chopra. The teaser begins with the text, “Netflix presents the untold true story of the greatest singer of his time. Punjab’s biggest record-selling artiste. Died at 27” flashing on the screen. At the end of the teaser, we get a glimpse of Diljit Dosanjh addressing the crowd as Amar Singh Chamkila.
