CBI grills BRS leader K Kavitha in Tihar over alleged corruption related to Delhi excise policy

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CBI) has questioned Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha, who was lodged after her arrest by the Enforcement Directorate, over alleged corruption cases in Tihar Jail related to India’s excise policy, officials said on Tuesday in that prison.

The special court allowed the agency to question co-accused Buchi Babu over the WhatsApp chats recovered from her mobile phone and documents related to the land deal following which Rs 100 crore was allegedly paid as kickback to the Aam Aadmi Party, Support the alcohol lobby with changes to excise tax policy.

Sources said agency officials went to Tihar jail on Saturday where she was questioned regarding these aspects of the case.

Since she is in judicial custody, interrogation of her in Tihar jail is mandatory.

Kavitha, the daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, has been accused of being a key member of the “South Group” that allegedly paid Rs 100 crore in kickbacks to Delhi’s ruling AAP in exchange for big Partial liquor license. in the nation’s capital. She was sent to 14-day judicial custody on Tuesday last week.

On March 15, the ED arrested 46-year-old Kavitha from her residence in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.

The special court on Tuesday extended her custody till April 23 after she was produced in court on the expiry of her judicial remand.
