The BJP on Sunday nominated Odisha after seat-sharing talks with Naveen Patnaik’s Biju Janata Dal failed 18 of the 21 Lok Sabha seats in the state. Party B has ousted four sitting MPs. Those named include Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and party spokesperson Sambit Patra.
Sambit Patra: A famous BJP face who narrowly lost in Puri last time is back in action. The BJD candidate opposing him is likely to be former Mumbai Police Commissioner Arup Patnaik. Puri is the seat of Lord Jagannath and a battle of prestige for both sides.
Dharmendra Pradhan:BJP heavyweight and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has been fielded from Sambalpur. The BJD is likely to field Pranab Prakash “Bobby” Das for the seat, so the fight is expected to attract attention.
Parajita Sarangi: The sitting MP and former IAS officer have again been posted from Bhubaneswar.
Jay Panda: The former BJD leader, who has joined the BJP, will fight from his old seat Kendrapada. Kendrapada Lok Sabha constituency witnessed a high-profile contest between BJD actor Anubhav Mohanty and Mr. Panda, with Mr. Mohanty winning convincingly.
