Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Punjab Kings by 60 runs in an IPL 2024 match in Dharamshala on Thursday. Star batsman Virat Kohli scored 92 runs in 47 balls, helping RCB score 241 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs when invited to bat first. In reply, Punjab Kings were all out for 181 runs in 17 overs. Riley Rossouw scored 61 runs in 27 balls, while Shashank Singh scored 37 runs in 19 balls. For RCB, Mohammed Siraj took 3 wickets for 43 runs, while Swapnil Singh, Lockie Ferguson and Karn Sharma took two wickets each.

Earlier, in-form opener Kohli got off to a brilliant start before Rajat Patidar (55 off 23 balls) ably supported the PBKS bowlers to clean bowl them out. Cameron Green contributed 46 runs on 27 balls.

The win helped RCB keep their modest playoff hopes alive with 10 points from 12 matches. To make it to the last four, RCB will have to win both their remaining matches and hope for favorable results from the other matches.

RCB’s win means PBKS slips to 9th and Mumbai Indians moves up to 8th.

RCB batsman Virat Kohli retains the Orange Cap with 634 runs in 12 matches, while PBKS’s Harshal Patel holds the Purple Cap with 20 wickets in 12 matches.

Kohli, who scored 92 runs off 47 balls in the game, crossed the 1000 IPL runs mark against PBKS and thus became the first batsman in the history of the tournament to do so against three opponents. He has already done this against DC and CSK.
