Nintendo can no longer charge Elon Musk’s X, formerly known as Twitter, API fees.

Nintendo said on Wednesday that as of June 10, direct integration from the Switch’s Image Album to X will no longer work. Engadget,

All three major console manufacturers have halted native screen-sharing for the Xbox with Nintendo’s departure.

In response, X’s official gaming account posted a bizarre, blatantly Orwellian reply that ignores its central role in the Mario creator’s exit.

“Our partnership with Nintendo remains strong, and we are working together to ensure a smooth transition for all users,” said @xGaming.

“We will continue to collaborate with partners to bring new and exciting experiences to our global gaming community.”

Ironically, the X’s built-in reader reference feature filled in the omitted subtext.

The user-generated reference says, “This is a direct response to X changing their API.”

“In particular, X is charging companies $40,000 or more per month to access its API. Sony’s PlayStation and Microsoft’s Xbox removed integration with X just last year.”

Access to the cheapest enterprise API plan for The Dumpster Fire, formerly known as Twitter, starts at $42,000 monthly. wired,

Specifically, the higher tier can reportedly cost between $125,000 and $210,000 per month.

A monthly cost of $42,000 (or more) may not seem like too much for these mega-corporations, but it appears that even they have their limits.
