India slams Pakistan: 'Your poor record on democracy is laughable'

“Let me recall that Osama bin Laden, the epitome of global terrorism, was discovered in Pakistan,” he said.

New Delhi:

India on Sunday lashed out at Pakistan at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), calling preaching from a country with a poor democratic record laughable and advising Pakistan to stop its terror factories from launching cross-border terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking at the 148th IPU Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, Harivansh, Vice-President of the House of Federation, used his right of reply against Pakistan to say that India is the largest democracy in the world and many consider it a model worth emulating.

“The speech from a country with a poor democratic record is laughable, to say the least. It would be better if Pakistan does not dilute the importance of a platform like the IPU with such ridiculous accusations and false narratives,” he said.

Referring to Pakistan’s allegations on Jammu and Kashmir, the Vice Chairman of the Indian House said that the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have always been and will always be an integral part of India.

“No one’s rhetoric and propaganda can disprove this fact. Instead, Pakistan would be better off putting a stop to its terror factories that continue to launch countless cross-border terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir while comically claiming to defend the cause of human rights,” he said .

Harivansh drew the attention of IPU members to Pakistan’s history of harboring, aiding and actively supporting terrorists.

“Let me recall that Osama bin Laden, the face of global terror, was discovered in Pakistan. The country has a disgraceful record of hosting one of the largest numbers of terrorists banned by the United Nations Security Council,” he reminded viewers.

He hoped Islamabad would learn the right lessons for the benefit of its own people.
