Some people pelted stones and damaged several vehicles at an election rally in support of PPP candidate and Union Minister Sanjeev Bhayan in Hatauli area of ​​Muzaffarnagar district, police said on Sunday.

Mr Balian was speaking at an election meeting when cars parked nearby were damaged.

City police chief Satyanarayan Prajapat said unruly people pelted stones at several vehicles as Mr Balian’s election rally was underway in Madhkarimpur village on Saturday night , broke the car window glass.

The attackers also shouted slogans, Prajapat said, adding that a manhunt was on for the accused and more police personnel had been deployed in the village.

BJP district unit president Sudhir Saini condemned the incident and demanded strict action against those involved.

Mr. Balian is contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Muzaffarnagar Assembly constituency and the first phase of polling will be held on April 19.
