It is expected that the new line will contribute to reducing overall traffic in the city, thereby reducing congestion on the roads.

To provide better end-to-end travel and better connectivity to passengers, Namma Metro is preparing to expand the lines by developing the Detailed Project Report (DPR), where a new line will connect Sarjapur to Hebbal.

It is recorded that the 37 km long line project is worth around Rs 16,543 crore, which was added to the Comprehensive Mobility Plan 2020. It was introduced to strengthen connectivity and ease transportation in the city.

Namma Metro Extended Connectivity

According to the report shared by ET, the planned route starts from an elevated corridor next to the IT corridor at Sarjapur, and the alignment goes underground at Koramangala. It will cross the Central Business District through a tunnel and eventually terminate at an elevated stop at Ballari Road in Ganganagar and Hebbal.

The report shared by TOI also suggests that the project will provide an interconnection with the currently available Pink, Blue, Purple and Phase III lines.

Starting from Iblur, the Better Line project will allow passengers to connect to the Blue Line, giving them better connectivity from Central Silk Board Station to Kempegowda International Airport. While Dairy Circle offers seamless movement towards Bannerghatta Road or MG Road using the Pink Line.

Additionally, the planned station will be connected to the Sir M Visvesvaraya Purple Line station, which is currently in service near KR Circle.
