Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit some important temples of Tamil Nadu on January 20 and 21 before the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya on January 22.

PM’s program for January 20

On January 20, PM Modi will participate in a program at Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Tiruchirappalli at around 11 am. His office said he will also hear various scholars reciting verses from the Kamba Ramayanam at the temple.

After this, Prime Minister Modi will reach Rameshwaram at around 2 pm and will have darshan and worship at Sri Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple.

Continuing the practice followed during his visits to temples at this holy site, he will participate in the Shri Ramayana Parayan programme. The highlight of the program will be the recitation of the episode of Lord Ram’s return to Ayodhya in Sanskrit, Awadhi, Kashmiri, Gurmukhi, Assamese, Bengali, Maithili and Gujarati.

“This is in line with the Indian cultural ethos and bonds that lie at the core of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’,” the statement said.

At the Sri Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple, Prime Minister Modi will also participate in the Bhajan Sandhya, where several devotional songs will be sung in the temple premises in the evening.

Program for 21st January

On January 21, Prime Minister Modi will visit and worship at the Kothandaramaswamy temple in Dhanushkodi. He will also visit Arichal Munai, which is said to be the place where Ram Setu was built.

It is said that it was here that Vibhishana met Shri Ram for the first time and sought refuge from him. Some legends also say that this is the place where Shri Ram coronated Vibhishana.

Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, located at Srirangam, Trichy, is one of the oldest temple complexes in the country and finds mention in various ancient texts including the Puranas and texts of the Sangam era. It is famous for its architectural grandeur and its numerous iconic gopurams.

The main deity worshiped is Sri Ranganatha Swamy, who is the reclining form of Lord Vishnu.
