Delhi government offices will remain closed for half a day on January 22 on the occasion of the consecration ceremony or ‘Pran-Pratishtha’ of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena approved a half-day holiday for all offices, civic bodies and other undertakings of the Delhi government on January 22, a Raj Niwas official said.

Meanwhile, a Delhi government official said that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has issued an order to close government offices till 2.30 pm on January 22.

The ‘Pran-Pratishtha’ of Ram Lalla will take place in the presence of over 11,000 VIP attendees including politicians, celebrities and sportspersons. The event will be presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is set to address the gathering from the ‘Singh Dwar’ of the temple.

Ahead of the consecration ceremony of Ram temple in Ayodhya, several states have declared holidays or half-day on January 22.

Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Haryana are among the states that have declared January 22 as a public holiday or half-day holiday, while the central government has already declared a half-day holiday for all its employees on the occasion.

In view of the consecration ceremony on January 22, all government offices and institutions in Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Haryana, Assam, Tripura and Gujarat will remain closed for half a day.
