Asian Games sprint medalist Jyothi Yarraji’s proposal to train in Tenrive, Spain, ahead of the upcoming season and the Paris Olympics, was approved by the government on Thursday. The 24-year-old, who won a silver medal in the 100m hurdles at the Hangzhou Asian Games, will fly to Spain for 45 days, according to a statement from the Sports Ministry’s Olympic Mission Group (MOC). The government will cover her air tickets, room and board, visa application fees, facility usage fees, sports massage fees, local transportation and out-of-pocket expenses.

The commerce ministry also approved a proposal by Indian badminton players Chirag Shetty and Satwiselaji Rankireddy to provide financial assistance to their sparring partners for training ahead of the Paris Olympics.

The star badminton pair will train with Scotland’s Alexander Dunn and Adam Hall in Mumbai in June, followed by Indonesia’s Rainn Agung in Hyderabad in July (Rain Agung) trains with Berry Agriawan.

TOPS will fund airfare, room and board for two people.

Apart from Jyoti, the Commerce Ministry has also approved foreign training plans for Indian shooters Raiza Dhillon and Rajeshwari Kumari.

Raza will train with her personal trainer, while Rajeshwari will train under Italian coach David Kostelecki.

TOPS will fund their and their coach’s airfare, accommodation, coaching fees, ammunition and clay bird expenses, visa and firearms license fees (for Raiza), extra baggage and local transportation, among other expenses.

The MOC also approved the equipment upgrade request of skeet shooter Rajeshwari and TOPS funded her purchase of a new gun stock.

Apart from foreign exposure, the Ministry of Culture has also approved the proposal of para-shooters Rahul Jakhar and Rubina Francis to participate in the upcoming WSPS World Cup in Changwon, South Korea.
